WELCOME TO BARBERMONGER
WHAT IS BARBERMONGER?

BARBERMONGER is a site designed to help roleplayers find other roleplayers, specifically one-on-one roleplayers, as opposed to larger roleplay games. Functioning like a pinboard, BARBERMONGER allows users to create advertisements, bump advertisements, and respond to other advertisements, without requiring them to register an account. However, registering an account will allow you to edit your posts, find your own topics, and use the private messaging system.

I doodle. Sometimes obsessively. Sometimes not at all.

WIP draw that is kinda NSFW? Can't really see anything but just sayin' anywho.

And I watered it in fears,
Night and morning with my tears;
And I sunned it with smiles,
And with soft deceitful wiles.

Such nice words
I have been drawing since my grubby little fingers could grasp a crayon, but digital since '03. I do not have year-by-year shots put together, but I shall make some just for you! Even if it does make me cringe.
Terribly.

Okay Xander. Here is my shame for you... It pains me to look at these old pictures but I shall post them anyhow. It's interesting to see where I started.

As far as drawing more seriously goes, I suppose it depends on what you want to do in the end. Do you want to draw digitally? Traditionally? Do you want to focus on portraits or landscapes?
I can't draw crap with a pencil anymore, I've put all my time and effort into digital. I use Paint tool SAI (which is my fave of all time and I recommend highly) and Photoshop, which is nice but to me not as smooth. I do most of my backgrounds now by using a free program called sketch up to make 3d models and then I paint over them/edit them to my liking.
If you want to do digital and you don't have a tablet, I recommend getting one. Don't believe for a second that you have to spend $600+ to get a decent one. I use the large wacom bamboo and I have two pens with different tips. It wasn't expensive and this tablet is 2? 3? years old? My old one was nearly 10. I spilled water on it. Multiple times.
I also recommend SAI over anything else. It's fairly inexpensive in comparison, about $50? It can be a little glitchy but the brushes are wonderfully light and responsive to the pen.

I think the best thing to figure out next is what you want to draw. Whatever that may be, you must study it. Basic shapes are your friend. When I do studies I usually spend <5 minutes on a pic and then move on. Here is a great site for just that.

What I will tell you right now as the golden rule is that time spent is skill earned. If you really want to get more serious, sketch every day. Sketch several things every day. I, however, am the laziest artist alive. I draw when and what I feel like.

I'm no pro, I feel silly giving advice, but I'm here if you have questions.

Now the shamening.

2004- First (ish?) fully digital image

THE ARM IS AS LONG AND WIDE AS THE TORSO... WHY *a thousand tears*

2005- an attempt at being creative with clothes. A sad attempt. Also scary neck.

2006- fully digital. Still can't anatomy.

2007- this makes me laugh really hard. I think I was still using a mouse.

2008- S-started... trying new things...

2009- Eh..

2010- Barely did anything.

2011- Also barely did anything

2012- Pretty productive. I started trying to sketch and (pretending to) pay mind to anatomy, also switched to SAI.

2013- Just tried a bunch o crap.

2014- Tried to paint.

2015- Still doin' the draw. Trying to do the draw so hard.

So there you have it. The crazy long post of doom and horrifying shame. I think I'm sweating a bit.
